CYCU Partners with 14 Taiwanese and Indonesian Institutions to Establish the Low-carbon Circular Technology Alliance (LCTA)

Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), together with the China Productivity Center (CPC) and 14 industrial and research institutions from Taiwan and Indonesia, jointly initiated the establishment of the Low-carbon Circular Technology Alliance (LCTA). On October 21, 2026, CYCU hosted the LCTA Initiative and Smart Green Technology Co-Creation Exchange Forum, attracting more than 70 representatives from government agencies, academic and research institutions, and businesses across Taiwan, Indonesia, India, Japan, and Europe. The alliance was jointly initiated by three Indonesian institutions, including BRIN for Energy and Manufacturing (BRIN-OREM), and 11 Taiwanese institutions, including CYCU’s HVIP and CPC’s Asian Productivity Organization Center of Excellence on Green Productivity (APO CEO GP). CYCU Chairman Chang was elected Chairman of the alliance, while CPC Vice President Lin was elected Vice Chairman. LCTA focuses on four major areas: technology co-creation, demonstration and validation, industrial collaboration, and international expansion. Its key priorities include low-carbon manufacturing processes, circular materials, smart manufacturing, digital carbon management, and green supply chains, with the aim of integrating research, technology, and market resources from Taiwan and Indonesia to accelerate the transition from technological research to industrial applications.
In response to the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and increasingly stringent global green requirements, LCTA plans to position Taiwan as a central cooperation hub connecting partners in Indonesia, India, Japan, Turkiye, and Europe, gradually establishing an Asia-Europe low-carbon circular technology cooperation network. During the event, industrial representatives from Indonesia and Japan visited Taiwanese companies specializing in smart manufacturing, green energy, and sustainable materials, as well as CYCU’s research and development centers. The alliance also engaged with international partners, including Japan’s S.K.H. Co., Ltd. in Osaka and India’s Infosys Group, to explore cooperation opportunities in low-carbon circular technologies, clean water, and digital innovation. Moving forward, LCTA will leverage Taiwan’s technological strengths in semiconductors, AI, smart manufacturing, and circular technologies to promote international technology matchmaking, proof-of-concept (POC) projects, and demonstration facilities, accelerating research commercialization and industrial adoption. This initiative is expected to deepen Taiwan-Indonesia industry-academia-research collaboration in low-carbon technologies and the circular economy, expand cooperation networks across Adia and Europe, enhance green industrial competitiveness, and support the region’s transition toward net-zero emissions.
