The concept of Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) is the right solution to meet the demands of environmentally friendly industries in supporting the target of net zero emissions by 2050. EIP is an industrial community located in an area committed to improving environmental, economic, and social performance through collaboration in managing environmental issues and natural resources. In Indonesia, the Ministry of Industry collaborates with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) to develop EIP with the aim of achieving inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
At the national level, Indonesia has become a pilot project country in the Global Eco-Industrial Park Program (GEIPP) by UNIDO. Through decisions and cross-sectoral cooperation, the Indonesian government is committed to accelerating the development of EIP as part of efforts to achieve Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets under the Paris Agreement. This program has made a significant positive contribution to sustainable industrial development in Indonesia, which not only considers economic aspects but also environmental and social aspects.
