On September 12, 2025, the Ministry of Environment (MOENV) launched Taiwan’s first environmental protection day at a professional baseball game in collaboration with the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL), held at the Taipei Dome. Under the theme “Love Baseball for Sustainability,” MOENV Minister Peng Chi-Ming threw the ceremonial first pitch in an eco-friendly jersey and joined thousands of fans in celebrating the fusion of sports and sustainability. The event followed an MOU signed in July with the goal of incorporating green practices—such as improved waste sorting, circular container use, and eco-conscious uniforms—into stadium culture across Taiwan.
To deepen public engagement, the Taipei Dome featured interactive activities and sustainable infrastructure, including second-hand baseball gear recycling, energy-efficient lighting, and rainwater recovery systems. Fans were encouraged wo bring their own eco-friendly tableware or rent reusable cups in exchange for discounts and perks. Through these initiatives, the MOENV hopes to embed environmental values into everyday life, using the influence of beloved sports to inspire public action toward net-zero emissions and a cleaner environment for future generations.
