Solusi Bangun Indonesia Promotes Low-Carbon Materials to Accelerate Green Construction and Support the 2060 NZE Target
PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk, a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), is promoting the development of low-carbon materials and sustainable construction solutions to support the transformation of Indonesia’s construction sector toward the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) 2060 target. Through the Indonesia Green Building Festival 2026, organized in collaboration with the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI), the company emphasized the importance of collaboration among building material manufacturers, planners, developers, government, academia, and the wider community in expanding the adoption of green building practices. The company’s strategy includes the utilization of alternative raw materials and fuels, improvements in energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy, and the development of various low-carbon products. Key innovations include specialty cement, soil stabilization technologies, ThruCrete, a porous concrete that allows water to infiltrate the ground and helps reduce surface water accumulation, and SpeedCrete, a fast-drying concrete designed to accelerate road repair works.
These green construction solutions have also been applied to several educational infrastructure projects in Yogyakarta, including the Innovation and Creativity Center (GIK) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), which has obtained Green Building certification based on GBCI’s Greenship standards. Solusi Bangun Indonesia has also supported the development of UGM’s Smart and Green Learning Center and Engineering Research and Innovation Center, both of which have received Greenship certification, while several other facilities have reached the final assessment stage with a Gold rating. These projects demonstrate the importance of integrating material innovation, building design, resource efficiency, and green building standards. Cross-sector collaboration and the incorporation of low-carbon materials from the planning stage are considered essential to reducing the construction sector’s carbon footprint while accelerating the development of green infrastructure that supports Indonesia’s achievement of the 2060 NZE target.
