PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim)aims to reduce carbon emissions by 32% by 2030 as part of its corporate decarbonization roadmap, with a long-term goal of achieving Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060. The company’s core strategies include energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy, and the implementation of circular economy principles in its production lines. One of its flagship initiatives is the co-firing of coal with biomass in its steam power plants, projected to cut emissions by up to 59,000 tons of CO2 annually by 2030.

In addition, Pupuk Kaltim is building a soda ash plant using a circular economy approach, expected to absorb approximately 174,000 tons of CO2 per year. The company is also adopting rooftop solar power systems (PLTS) to reduce emissions by 900 tons of CO2 and is operating electric vehicles for its operations, which are targeted to cut emissions by 110 tons of CO2 in 2030. These initiatives demonstrate Pupuk Kaltim’s strong commitment to supporting the energy transition and achieving sustainable carbon emission reductions.
