PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) has adjusted the electricity strategy to align with Indonesia’s commitment to achieving zero carbon emissions by 2060. The new National Electricity Business Plan (RUKN) will establish an increase in the use of new renewable energy generators to 60 Gigawatts (GW), with a focus on hydro, geothermal, solar, and wind-based generators.
The development of green transmission lines will be crucial for distributing green electricity between islands in Indonesia. Although the share of renewable energy in the energy mix is still relatively small, PLN is striving to further develop renewable energy through partnerships with foreign companies, such as China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd (CEEC).
Collaboration between PLN and CEEC on green energy projects in Sulawesi is expected to support Indonesia in achieving the target of zero carbon emissions by 2060 or earlier.
