The state-owned company PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) is helping to tackle waste and protect the environment through an innovative Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) program.
Through the Reverse Vending Machine program, the company aims to recycle PET 1 plastic bottles into Geotextile Non-Woven, an essential material in construction projects such as highways, toll roads, and dams.
Since its launch in August 2024 until November 2, 2024, the program has had a significant positive impact, including reducing carbon footprint by 614,396 grams, collecting 116.05 kg of plastic bottles, which were then processed into various specifications of Geotextile, with a total production of 2,333.5 m².
The monitoring process is conducted through a cloud-based system, ensuring data transparency and periodic evaluations of the amount of plastic bottles collected and their environmental impact.
This PTPP initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including responsible consumption and production, as well as marine ecosystem protection by reducing ocean pollution.
