Visit to Li-Tsang a PET Plastic Recycling and Reuse Manufacturing Plant

Updated: 5 days ago

On November 19th, the Taiwan-Indonesia Science and Technology Innovation Center (STIC) visited the Li-Tsang Company in Miaoli County. The visit aimed to provide the Indonesian delegation with insights into Taiwan’s PET plastic recycling and reuse industry, showcasing its current development and advanced technology, while facilitating an exchange of expertise with Li-Tsang Company in plastic waste management.

Founded in September 2020, Li-Tsang Co., Ltd. is the largest PET plastic recycling manufacturing plant in Taiwan. It is a model enterprise in Taiwan’s green supply chain and circular economy sector. The company specializes in PET plastic recycling, leveraging cutting-edge technology and a professional team to establish an efficient and eco-friendly circular economy model in response to the rising global awareness of environmental sustainability.

We were honored to receive a warm welcome from Chairwoman Cheng Chu-Lan of Li-Tsang Company, who engaged in an in-depth discussion with 12 distinguished Indonesian delegations. They explored challenges and opportunities in plastic waste management and share Taiwan’s successful experience in this field. Chairwoman Cheng acknowledged that the recycling industry’s profits primarily rely on semi-finished product sales (ca. 20,000 NT$ per ton) and government subsidies out of the recycling fund (7,500 NT$ per ton). She emphasized that Li-Tsang has consistently focused on PET plastic recycling and reuse manufacturing, prioritizing quality and safety at every stage of production. Rigorous quality control and monitoring processes are implemented to ensure the stability and reliability of all recycled materials.

Chairwoman Cheng personally led the delegation on a tour of the factory, providing a detailed explanation of the PET plastic recycling process. The process involves sorting, cleaning, and crushing discarded plastics, which are then transformed into clean, transparent plastic pellets. The factory processes approximately 500 tons of PET plastic bales monthly, which the recycled materials being used in various products, including casings, household items, and toys.

This visit left a profound impression on us, showcasing Li-Tsang expertise and passion in the field of plastic recycling and reuse. Li-Tsang has demonstrated the immense potential of the recycling industry while actively embodying ESG principles for sustainable development.

To further advance Taiwan-Indonesia cooperation in environmental sustainability, STIC has extended an invitation to Chairwoman Cheng to participate in an upcoming plastic waste management workshop, scheduled to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia. We hope that Li-Tsang’s technical expertise and experience will foster multi-level exchanges and collaborations between governments, industries, and academic institutions in both countries.
