Mr. Hwang In Seok (4th from the left in the front row) and the staff of PT. CJI with the STIC team
Our Taiwan-Indonesia Science and Technology Innovation Center (STIC) visited the PT Cheil Jedang Indonesia (CJI) branch in Jombang on December 5th. CJ corporation, headquartered in South Korea, operates in various fields such as biotechnology, food and food service, retail and logistics, entertainment, and media.
PT Cheil Jedang (CJ) established the first factory in Indonesia in 1988, located in Pasuruan city, East Java. The Jombang branch primarily manufactures food additives like monosodium glutamate (MSG) and sugar for export to South Korea. Presently, 90% of their products are for export. The significant amount of waste liquor produced during the manufacturing is currently converted into liquid fertilizer, which supplies the East Java agricultural market with an annual output of approximately 600,000 tons.
We were honored to have a guide tour around the big plant on a bus, stopped by each major units. Later, we also engaged in discussions with Mr. Hwang In Seok, Executive Vice President of PT. CJI, and managers and directors of PT. CJI as well. We invited the company to become a partner for STIC, and we proposed to bridge Taiwan Fertilizer Company PT. CJI for possible joint venture or collaboration in the future.
