During his visit to the United States from November 10–13, 2024, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with U.S. President Joe Biden and spoke with President-elect Donald Trump. The visit focused on strengthening economic ties, with the U.S. being Indonesia's fifth-largest investor, contributing USD 840 million as of Q3 2024.
President Prabowo encouraged U.S. investment in renewable energy, technology, and education sectors. A meeting with U.S. business leaders, including executives from companies like Freeport McMoran, Boeing, and ExxonMobil, highlighted U.S. interest in Indonesia’s energy sector, particularly renewable energy and carbon emission reduction.
Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Investment and Downstream/Head of BKPM, emphasized opportunities in geothermal energy, noting that only 10% of Indonesia’s geothermal potential is utilized. The government has offered 12 geothermal projects requiring a total investment of USD 2.16 billion.
