Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment (MOENV) announced the establishment of the Circular Economy Innovation Alliance, with eight youth-led start-ups joining as founding members to showcase a range of innovative and practical circular design solutions. Highlights include Yi Chun Green Technology, which disassembles and purifies used diapers into recyclable plastic and paper fiber materials using a water-saving, low-temperature microbial treatment system that enables water reuse.

Another example is the company Duolog Design, which launched the world’s first 100% recycled modular eyeglass frames made from discarded fishing nets. Featuring a screwless, single-material design, the glasses are easy to assemble, disassemble, and recycle, offering both environmental and functional benefits. These innovations demonstrate that circular economy practices are not limited to industrial applications, but can also be integrated into everyday products to foster sustainable green lifestyles.

To further integrate innovation resources and accelerate product commercialization, the Resource Circulation Administration under MOENV will officially launch the Circular Redesign Center, the center will serve as a platform for connecting young entrepreneurs with industry stakeholders. Minister of Environment, Dr. Peng Chi-Ming, emphasized that in the face of global geopolitical tensions and climate challenges, circular economy represents a major opportunity for Taiwan to build its international “Green MIT” brand. The government plans to offer funding, mentorship, and international connection opportunities to support local innovation, regional revitalization, and the growth of emerging industries. Themed exhibitions will rotate every two months, starting with the textile alliance, followed by themes on plastics, construction, and electronics—driving Taiwan to become a model for circular economy in Asia.
