The Ministry of Education (MOE) has launched the Sustainable Energy Cross-Disciplinary Talent Development Program to encourage high schools to incorporate energy literacy courses into their curriculum.
The initiative provides professional development workshops for high school teachers, helping them enhance their understanding of energy literacy and improve curriculum design, per an MOE press release. It also supports schools in developing diverse elective courses and project-based learning opportunities.
National Taiwan Ocean University and Keelung Anle High School have collaborated on a marine energy curriculum, with students encouraged to participate in energy practice competitions to develop practical skills.
Meanwhile, National Dong Hwa University and Tzu Chi Senior High School have partnered to create sustainability-focused curricula. Through interactive group games, students explore Taiwan’s energy challenges and engage in hands-on research on renewable energy systems such as solar and biomass energy. These activities aim to deepen their understanding of renewable energy principles through real-world applications.
The MOE said that by fostering partnerships between universities and high schools, the program promotes interdisciplinary energy education. The effort aligns with Taiwan’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
