PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group), in collaboration with the Bakti Barito Foundation, conducted a research evaluation on plastic asphalt applied to 23 road sections in Garut Regency, covering a total length of 50.2 km. The study results indicate an increase in road stability with the addition of plastic up to 6.1%, with the highest Marshall Quotient (MQ) value reaching 399 kg/mm compared to conventional asphalt at 366.7 kg/mm.
By incorporating shredded plastic, the asphalt becomes denser, more durable, and better able to withstand loads. A total of 431,535 kg of plastic waste from local landfills has been utilized in this project, aligning with the principles of a circular economy.
The launch of this research coincides with National Waste Awareness Day (HPSN) 2025, emphasizing the importance of cross-sector collaboration in waste management. Chandra Asri Group and the Bakti Barito Foundation hope this initiative can be expanded to various regions across Indonesia to support more sustainable infrastructure.
