PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) is set to complete the construction of the world’s largest Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) plant in Rorotan, North Jakarta, by February 2025. With a waste processing capacity of 2,500 tons per day, RDF Rorotan will surpass the current largest RDF facility in Tel Aviv, Israel, which has a capacity of 1,500 tons per day. Started in March 2024, the project has reached 94.88% completion and will handle domestic waste from 16 sub-districts in Jakarta. The facility is expected to produce 875 tons of RDF daily, reducing waste sent to the Bantargebang landfill by 30%. The RDF produced will serve as an alternative fuel source comparable to coal, supporting energy needs in industrial plants and waste-to-energy power plants.
WIKA has integrated advanced waste processing technologies from various countries, including primary shredders, secondary shredders, dynamic screeners, and wind shifters, to ensure high-quality RDF output. Innovations such as the slab-on-pile foundation were implemented to overcome challenges posted by the soft soil at the project site, ensuring long-term stability. This project reflects WIKA’s strategic contribution to a greener and more sustainable future while showcasing its strength as Indonesia’s leading construction company in the EPC sector.
