The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), through its Research Center for Sustainable Industrial and Manufacturing Systems (PR SIMB), actively participated in the Indo-Pacific Plastics Innovation Network (IPPIN) Indonesia Demo Day 2025 in Jakarta, in collaboration with Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). The event brought together researchers, industry players, and policymakers to strengthen synergies in sustainable plastic management and promote the circular economy. BRIN visited the startup Alner, which focuses on a reuse system for product packaging, and emphasized the importance of data-driven research in building a circular value chain—from design to end-of-life management. During the pitching session, PR SIMB Head Nugroho Adi Sasongko served as a judge to evaluate the sustainability and feasibility of startup innovations suc as DurUlang.id, Rebrick, Refilin, and Izfill Filter.
By actively participating in panel discussions and working groups under the theme “From Gaps to Action,” BRIN reinforced its role in driving cross-sectoral collaboration to address real-world circular economy challenges. With a participatory research approach, BRIN contributed to formulating concrete action steps ranging from policy harmonization and industrial network strengthening to increasing public awareness. BRIN’s commitment to bridging research and industrial implementation highlights its determination to be a strategic partner in transforming the national production system toward competitive and environmentally sustainable practices.
