Minister of Environment/BPLH Hanif Faisol Nurofiq inaugurated an integrated Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) facility in Sukabumi Regency, a collaboration between the Sukabumi local government and PT Semen Jawa. With a capacity of 333 tons/day, the plant converts high-calorific non-organic waste (plastics, textiles, paper, rubber) into alternative fuel for the cement industry—reducing dependence on landfills and fossil fuels. The move addresses an emergency: KLH/BPLH verification found 827 tons/day of waste (≈301,855 tons/year)with only 3.28% properly managed, and supports RPJMN 2025-2029 targets (51.21% managed in 2025; 100% by 2029).
Administrative sanctions under Decree No. 758/2025 require halting landfill operations for up to 180 days and building a new sanitary landfill within a year. Positioned as a fast, cost-effective (≈IDR 300,000/ton), and sustainable solution, RDF cuts emissions and advances the circular economy. SCG—via PT Semen Jawa—said the Cimenteng RDF facility aligns with its ESG commitments and NZE 2050 goal, leveraging 10+ years of RDF experience in Thailand. KLH/BPLH will continue assisting local governments, driving a shift from “collect-transport-dump” to a modern, collaborative, tech-driven, low-emission system scalable nationwide.
